As an advocate, Valerie gently offers her message. She encourages strength & self love for survivors of domestic violence & emotional trauma. It is a message she wishes she didn’t understand, but is well aware it helped create the person she is proud of today.
Valerie is extremely active as a host & mentor. She created a space specifically to support artists called Original Of Thought. This space can be found supporting many genres of shows and hosts on Instagram, Zoom and YouTube. Keep an eye out, there is always more coming!

He now lives in Belgium.As a young man he worked in a shoe shop, was active in students politics and once cycled up an alpine mountain for a dare. Steve has coached basketball internationally and now works in administration.He is married, has a daughter and still hasn’t really grown up.Steve writes on a wide variety of topics, his work is consistently an interesting read and his recitals are captivating. Gabriel Ratcliffe is a scientist poet from Indianapolis, IN. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in biology at Hanover College and completed minors in Creative Writing and Spanish. Gabriel is currently a PhD student at University of Pittsburgh, where he studies biomedical sciences and fuses research with creative writing to enhance science communication. He publishes and posts his content through both print and audio-visual media, which includes his first poetry book “Roaring 20: A Walk with Black Sun.” (link in Instagram bio)

Extending a warm welcome to our special guest this week, the beautiful Nav Violet. (IG: @navviolet). Nav Sohi, known better by her pen name Nav Violet, is a writer based in Northern Virginia. “Handful of Violets” is her debut poetry collection. Nav’s poems are deeply emotive, touching on love, longing, grief, and the trials and tribulations of life.
Nav’s poetry has also been featured in the NoVa Bards 2023 An Anthology of Northern Virginia Poetry, Prosetrics Magazine, and Zhagaram Literary Magazine. You can find more of her work on Instagram. (IG: @navviolet)

Extending a warm welcome to our featured guest, the amazing Ty Black (IG: @tyblackatl). Tyrone "Ty (pronounced 'TIE') Black" Blackwell is a performing spoken word artist located in the metro Atlanta area. Ty has been gifted with the nickname of "The Walking Volcano" for his explosive and eruptive performing style. Topics upon which he speaks ranges from non-fiction to current social issues affecting the communities.
Ty has been in the metro Atlanta area for more than thirty years performing and supporting the poetry community. Ty is most currently known for hosting virtual open mic shows on several platforms and his association with 'The Galaxy of Poets'; a collective of diverse creatives with the goal of establishing in person and virtual platforms that promote mental health and domestic abuse awareness.
Currently Ty is interested in bookings for feature events and projects which present opportunities for exposure of his talents.

William Waldorf is the author of the book “Ways of Love” released earlier this year. As suggested by the title, William writes on themes of love and the heart’s journey for the self to evolve and grow through love. William favours the sonnet form in his written work which is heart warming and uplifting instigating the readers own mindset.
William "Bill" Waldorf's love affair with poetry began with strict forms like sonnets. Currently he is focussed on poems inspired by daily life. William loves to show history has not changed us; he is enamored with verse. William's book "Sonnets and More" explored various themes of love's relationships within the sonnet form. William's current book "Ways of Love" is about how powerful words can touch people. His poetry's tenderness often creates a response from the reader as he explains how to know love. William's work also appears in several anthologies.

Kem Diké is a poet and spoken word artist from Tampa, Florida. Kem has been writing poetry since he was 12, but his mama will argue that it was earlier than that. Kem has been published in poetry books such as “Stars in our Hearts” and twice in Neptune magazine. Kem is also an award-winning filmmaker, turning one of his poems into a short film and incidentally has more films in the works. His style of poetry is eclectic adding his unique sense of humor as well as some subtle social commentary.

Tariro’s poetry is somatic, a loud eruptive invitation to enlist oneself to presence as the passageway into experiencing the sensorium of human and non human kinship. Tariro is an artist whose life’s work is tethered to re-villagising, unifying through similarities and difference and making a post humanist world where all things seen and unseen, known and unknown thrive.
Tariro has been a featured poet at Slamalamadingdong, Better Of Said, Melbourne Spoken Word and Poetry Festival, Passionate Tongue, Mother Tongue, Emerging Writer’s Festival, African Music and Cultural Festival, Melbourne Poets Union. She has been published in Growing Up African in Australia Black Inc Books and Going Down Swinging.
Tariro was nominated for an Aria Music Award in 2021 with her collaboration with The Australian Art Orchestra for Best Jazz Album last year and won an APRA AMCOS award for Work of the Year: Electroacoustic/Sound Art, for Closed Beginnings.
Tariro left her dream job to get lost in tropical jungles around the world for a year and co-mingle with wild natural territories and re-member the vernaculars and ontologies of soils, rivers, waterfalls, frogs, birds, tree branches, ocean, plants, flowers, skies. After living in Barbados an island in the Caribbean for a year, Tariro has returned to Australia to co-direct Maxine Beneba Clarke’s theatrical production of The Hate Race at Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne in 2024.
